The private sector led City Growth board led a process of research, consultation and strategy with several hundred of Portsmouth's 6,500 businesses. This strategy and a series of actions are now being implemented across the city region.
The Board of City Growth has elected a new Chair to lead the programme into the next phase of its development. Carl Leroy Smith of Deer Park Alpha (architects)
was appointed by the members of the board at their meeting on
10th February. Carl believes the strength of City Growth is in its
actions and plans to use a cross sector project based approach, led by the private sector - 'actually doing stuff that makes our city better'.
Caroline Collings, a leading member of the Federation Of Small Businesses and chair of the Economic Wellbeing Partnership, will continue in her role as deputy chair for City Growth.
City Growth identifies the strengths and competitive advantage of the city region and uses these to achieve economic success for everyone.
