VT Shipbuilding

VT Shipbuilding, a world renowned company, has a new £50 million facility in Portsmouth Naval Base. VT has built ships for over 30 different navies, including the Royal Navy, in just the last three decades and has been operating for over a century. The new facility will be one of the most modern in the world and will be ideal for supplying our Navy with state-of-the-art warships. The convenient location will also allow VT to continue to play an active role in the maintenance of the ships since over two-thirds of the Navy’s fleet are based here in Portsmouth.

In 2006, VT built the first ship at Portsmouth Naval Base in 40 years, HMS Clyde. It was a special moment for both Portsmouth and VT, signalling the return of first-class shipbuilding to a city that has long played a huge part in the Royal Navy.

VT Shipbuilding is currently working on a huge project to build the Royal Navy’s new Type 45 Class of Anti Air Warfare Destroyer. They contributed heavily to the construction of the world’s most advanced warship, HMS Daring, and recently supplied sections of HMS Diamond to her assembling point in Glasgow.
