Wyeth Pharmaceuticals
Located just up the road in Havant, since 1957, is a branch of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals; a global healthcare company based in the US but with a strong foothold in the UK.
In Havant they package and distribute everything from vaccines to biological products to pharmaceuticals throughout the world. They handle around 300 products, worth £555 million annually, across a broad range of areas from rheumatology to prostate cancer.
In 2005 they received the Exporter of the Year Award in The News Business Excellence Awards, sponsored by Hampshire County Council, highlighting their committed and skilful work.
Havant played a huge role in supplying life-saving vaccines for children as part of a big push by the UK Department of Health. They successfully met the demanding schedule and were estimated to have supplied around 3 million of the vaccines to the NHS by the end of 2006, no doubt protecting hundreds of children from the life-threatening diseases.
